바이든 “국가안보 침해 가능성 중국산 수입차 등 조사 지시” > 세계

조 바이든 대통령은 미국의 국가안보를 침해할 가능성이 있는 중국산 수입차에 대해 상무부가 조사를 실시하도록 지시했다고 어제(29일) 밝혔습니다.
President Joe Biden said yesterday (29th) that he ordered the Commerce Department to conduct an investigation into imported cars from China that could potentially violate U.S. national security.

바이든 대통령은 이날 성명에서 상무장관에게 인터넷 등을 기반으로 한 연결형 차량들 중 중국 등 우려국의 기술이 적용된 차량들에 대한 조사를 실시하고 관련 위험에 대응하기 위한 조치를 취하도록 지시했다고 말했습니다.
President Biden said in a statement that he had instructed the Commerce Secretary to conduct an investigation into connected vehicles based on the Internet and other vehicles to which technology from China and other countries of concern was applied and to take action to counter the risks involved.

바이든 대통령은 요즘 대부분의 자동차는 전화와 자동항법장치, 핵심 기간시설들과 "연결"돼 있다며, 중국산 자동차들은 미국인들과 사회기반시설과 관련한 민감한 정보를 취합해 중국으로 보낼 수 있다고 지적했습니다.
Most cars these days are "connected" to phones, automated navigation devices and key infrastructure, Biden said, noting that Chinese cars can collect sensitive information about Americans and infrastructure and send it to China.

아울러 이들 자동차들은 원격 접근 혹은 비활성화도 할 수 있다고 말했습니다.
They also said that these cars can be remotely accessed or disabled.

바이든 대통령은 이번 조치가 중국과 같은 우려국에서 만든 미국 내 자동차들이 국가안보를 저해하지 못하도록 하기 위해 취한 전례 없는 조치라고 설명했습니다.
President Biden described the move as an unprecedented step to prevent cars in the U.S., made by countries of concern such as China, from undermining national security.

바이든 대통령은 특히 중국이 불공정 관행 등을 통해 자동차 시장의 미래를 지배하려 하고 있다며, 중국의 정책은 미국시장에 중국산 차량이 넘쳐나게 할 것이며 이는 미국의 국가안보에 위험을 초래할 수 있다고 강조했습니다.
President Biden said China, in particular, is trying to dominate the future of the auto market through unfair practices and other things, stressing that China's policy would flood the U.S. market with Chinese-made vehicles, which could pose a risk to U.S. national security.

한편 `로이터’ 통신은 복수의 관리를 인용해 어떤 조치가 취해질지 말하기에는 너무 이르며, 중국산 관련 차량에 대한 금지나 제한 등의 결정은 내려지지 않았다고 보도했습니다.
Meanwhile, Reuters, citing multiple officials, reported that it was too early to say what action would be taken, and that no decisions had been made, such as bans or restrictions on vehicles related to Chinese-made products.
