대법원은 어제(28일) 성명에서 “전직 대통령이 재임 중 공무상 관여 혐의가 있는 행위에 대해 대통령의 형사기소 면제 혜택을 누리는지와, 이를 어느 정도까지 누리는지를 판단하겠다”고 밝혔습니다.
The Supreme Court said in a statement yesterday (28th), "We will determine whether the former president enjoys the president's exemption from criminal prosecution for alleged involvement in public affairs while in office and to what extent he enjoys it."

트럼프 전 대통령은 대법원의 발표 뒤 성명에서 “대통령은 부당한 압력 없이 우리나라를 위해 무엇이 옳은지 자유롭게 결정할 수 있어야 한다”면서, 자신과 관련한 혐의에 대해 면책특권이 적용돼야 한다고 거듭 주장했습니다.
In a statement after the Supreme Court's announcement, former President Trump reiterated that immunity should be applied to charges related to him, saying, "The president should be free to decide what is right for our country without undue pressure."

대법원은 이전 판결에서 미국 대통령의 공무 관련 민사상 면책특권을 인정했으며, 트럼프 전 대통령의 변호인들은 이를 형사 사안으로 확대해야 한다고 주장해왔습니다.
The Supreme Court acknowledged the U.S. president's civil immunity related to official duties in a previous ruling, which former President Trump's lawyers have argued should be extended to criminal matters.

이번 사안에 대한 변론은 4월경에 이뤄질 에정이며, 최종 판결은 6월 말경 내려질 예정입니다.
