타이완 총통 "온두라스에 깊은 유감...중국과 '달러 외교전' 안 해" > 세계

차이잉원 타이완 총통은 온두라스에 깊은 유감을 표한다고 밝혔습니다.
Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen says he deeply regrets Honduras.

차이 총통은 오늘(26일) 영상을 통해 온두라스와의 외교관계 단절을 공식 확인하며 이 같이 말했습니다.
President Tsai made the remarks today (26th) by officially confirming the disconnection of diplomatic relations with Honduras in a video.

다만 “중국과 의미 없는 ‘달러 외교전’을 벌어지는 않을 것”이라면서 “중국은 타이완의 국제적 참여를 억압하고, 타이완에 대한 군사적 위협을 강화하며 역내 평화와 안정을 방해하기 위해 모든 수단을 집요하게 사용해 왔다”고 지적했습니다.
"We will not engage in a meaningless 'dollar diplomatic war' with China," he said. "China has persistently used all means to suppress Taiwan's international participation, strengthen military threats against Taiwan, and hinder peace and stability in the region."

이어 “타이완 사람들은 위협에 굴복하지 않는다”고 강조했습니다.
He then stressed that "Taiwanese do not give in to threats."

그러면서 “외교 동맹과 같은 생각을 가진 나라와의 연결과 협력 그리고 국제 안보와 안녕을 위한 공동 노력은 더욱 확대되고 더 강해질 뿐”이라고 밝혔습니다.
He said, "The joint efforts for connection and cooperation with thought-provoking countries such as diplomatic alliances, as well as for international security and well-being, will only expand and become stronger.

차이 총통은 이달 29일부터 9박 10일 일정으로 중미 과테말라와 벨리즈를 방문합니다.
President Tsai will visit Guatemala and Belize in Central America for 10 days and 9 nights from the 29th of this month.

앞서 타이완 정부는 차이 총통이 중미를 오가는 30일과 다음달 5일 각각 미국 뉴욕과 로스엔젤레스를 경유한다고 발표한 바 있습니다.
The Taiwanese government earlier announced that Tsai would travel to and from Central America on the 30th and through New York and Los Angeles on the 5th of next month, respectively.
