미국과 그리스가 기존의 상호방위협력조약을 강화하는 내용의 새 조약에 합의했습니다.
The United States and Greece have agreed to a new treaty to strengthen the existing Treaty of Mutual Defense Cooperation.

토니 블링컨 미국 국무장관은 14일 니코스 덴디아스 그리스 외무장관과 갱신된 조약에 서명한 뒤 연 기자회견에서 “양국은 평화와 번영, 인간존엄에서 보다 강력한 힘으로 발돋움할 것 ”이라고 말했습니다.
US Secretary of State Tony Blinkon said at a press conference held after signing the renewed treaty with Greek Foreign Minister Nicos Dendias on the 14th, "The two countries will become stronger forces in peace, prosperity, and human dignity."

블링컨 장관은 또 갱신된 상호방위협력조약을 통해 미군이 그리스 내 추가적인 장소에서 훈련하고 작전할 수 있게 됐다고 밝혔습니다.
Minister Blinkon also said the renewed Mutual Defense Cooperation Treaty will allow the U.S. military to train and operate in additional places in Greece.

덴디아스 그리스 외교장관은 갱신된 조약이 그리스의 이익을 지키고 국방 문제를 넘어선 분야들의 협력을 가능하게 한다고 말했습니다.
Greek Foreign Minister Dendias said the renewed treaty protects Greece's interests and enables cooperation in areas beyond defense.

덴디아스 장관은 또 조약이 “미국이 그리스에 투자할 수 있는 틀을 제공해준다”며, 단순히 그리스 내 국방 관련 시설 투자에 국한된 것이 아닌 보다 넓은 분야에서 협력의 틀을 구축하고 개선할 수 있게 됐다고 평가했습니다.
Minister Dendias also said the treaty "provides a framework for the U.S. to invest in Greece," adding that it is not just limited to investing in defense-related facilities in Greece, but has been able to establish and improve a framework for cooperation in a wider area.

미국과 그리스 간 상호방위협력조약 갱신 협상은 2018년부터 논의돼 왔으며, 이날 워싱턴에서 열린 양국 외교수장간 전략대화에서 타결됐습니다.
Negotiations on the renewal of the Treaty on Mutual Defense Cooperation between the U.S. and Greece have been discussed since 2018, and were concluded in a strategic dialogue between the heads of diplomacy between the two countries in Washington.
