미국은 아프리카 나이지리아에 350만회분의 화이자 코로나 백신을 제공한다고 12일 밝혔습니다.
The United States announced on the 12th that it will provide 3.5 million pfizer coronavirus vaccines to Nigeria, Africa.
백악관 관계자는 이날 VOA에 “이같은 기부는 환심을 사거나 대가를 바라고 하는 것이 절대 아니”라며 “미국 정부가 지원하는 백신은 어떤 조건도 없으며 인명을 구하는 것이 유일한 목적”이라고 강조했습니다.
A White House official told VOA that day, "This donation is never about favoring or hoping for a price," adding, "There are no conditions for vaccines supported by the U.S. government and the only purpose is to save lives."
앞서 미국은 지난 7월에도 나이지리아에 400만회분의 모더나 백신을 기부한 바 있습니다.
Earlier in July, the United States donated 4 million moders or vaccines to Nigeria.
세계보건기구(WHO)에 따르면 나이지리아는 지금까지 최소 2천747명이 신종 코로나 백신 감염으로 사망했으며, 20만 8천여명이 확진됐습니다.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria has so far killed at least 2,747 people from the novel coronavirus infection disease, and 208,000 people have been confirmed.
앞서 나이지리아는 러시아와 중국으로부터 백신을 지원받았습니다.
Nigeria previously received vaccine support from Russia and China.
나이지리아는 인구 2억 6백만명의 중하위 소득 국가입니다.
Nigeria is a middle-low-income country with a population of 26 million.
