노벨경제학상에 카드·앵그리트·임벤스 > 세계

올해 노벨경제학상 수상자로 데이비드 카드 미국 버클리 캘리포니아대학교 경제학과 교수와 조슈아 앵그리트 매사추세츠공과대학(MIT) 교수, 귀도 임벤스 스탠포드대 교수가 공동선정됐습니다.
David Card, a professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley, Joshua Angrid, a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Guido Imbens, a professor at Stanford University, were jointly selected as Nobel Prize winners this year.

스웨덴 왕립과학원 노벨위원회는 11일 이들 3명을 올해 수상자로 선정하면서, “경제학의 실증적 연구를 완벽하게 재변모시켰다”고 밝혔습니다.
On the 11th, the Nobel Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences selected these three as winners of this year, saying, "We have completely transformed the empirical research of economics."

피터 프레드릭손 노벨경제학상 위원장은 특히 “카드 교수의 ‘사회에 대한 핵심 의문’ 연구와 앵그리트와 임벤스 교수의 연구방법론적 기여는 자연실험이 지식의 풍부한 원천이 된다는 점을 증명했다”고 평가했습니다.
Peter Frederickson, chairman of the Nobel Prize in Economics, said in particular, "Professor Card's research on 'core questions about society' and Professor Angrit and Professor Imbens' contribution to the research methodology proved that natural experiment is a rich source of knowledge."

이어 이들의 연구는 “일상적이지만 핵심적인 질문을 던질 수 있는 인류의 능력을 획기적으로 개선시켜 전 사회에 큰 혜택을 제공하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
Their research then said, "We are providing great benefits to the whole society by dramatically improving humanity's ability to ask daily but key questions."

노벨위원회는 여러 과학자가 서로 연관된 주제의 연구를 진행했다고 판단될 경우 공동으로 상을 수여하기도 합니다.
The Nobel Committee jointly awards several scientists if they believe they have conducted research on related topics.

노벨경제학상은 알프레드 노벨의 유언에 따라 선정하고 있는 다른 분야 노벨상과는 달리, 스웨덴 중앙은행이 1968년부터 노벨의 업적을 추모하기 위해 매년 선정하고 있습니다.
