터너 미 북한인권특사 내일쯤 방한…조태열 한국 외교장관 예방 > 사회

줄리 터너 미국 국무부 북한인권특사가 이번 주 방한해 조태열 한국 외교부 장관을 면담합니다.
Julie Turner, the U.S. special envoy for North Korea's human rights affairs, will meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol in Seoul this week.

임수석 한국 외교부 대변인은 오늘(13일) 정례브리핑에서 “터너 특사의 방한 기간에 외교부 장관 예방, 평화외교기획단장 등 정부 인사 면담과 북한인권 국제협력대사 면담과 간담회 등 일정을 추진할 예정”이라고 밝혔습니다.
South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Lim said in a regular press briefing today (13th) that "During Turner's visit to South Korea, we will proceed with the schedule of visiting the foreign minister, meeting with government officials such as the head of the peace and diplomacy planning team, and meeting and meeting with international cooperation ambassadors for North Korean human rights."

임 대변인은 “터너 특사의 방한은 유엔 북한인권 조사위원회(COI) 보고서 발표 10주년을 맞아 북한 인권과 관련한 대내외 관심을 제고하고 북한 인권 개선을 위한 한미 정부의 강한 의지를 발신하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다”고 말했습니다.
"Turner's visit to South Korea is expected to serve as an opportunity to raise internal and external interest in North Korea's human rights and to send out the strong will of the South Korean and U.S. governments to improve North Korea's human rights on the 10th anniversary of the release of the U.N. Commission of Inquiry (COI)."

현재 일본에 체류 중인 터너 특사는 14일께 한국으로 이동해 이번 주 중 조태열 장관을 예방하고 서울 유엔인권사무소 주최로 열리는 COI 보고서 발간 10주년 기념행사 등에 참석할 것으로 알려졌습니다.
Turner, who is currently in Japan, is expected to travel to Korea on the 14th to visit Minister Cho Tae-yeol and attend the 10th anniversary of the publication of the COI report hosted by the United Nations Human Rights Office in Seoul this week.
