미한 외교장관 “북러 불법 군사협력, 심각한 위협” > 정치

미국과 한국 외교장관이 북한과 러시아 간 군사협력이 역내 안정과 국제 비확산 체제에 심각한 위협이라고 지적했습니다. 미한일 3국 관계의 중요성도 재확인했습니다. 조은정 기자가 보도합니다.
The U.S. and South Korean foreign ministers pointed out that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia is a serious threat to regional stability and the international non-proliferation regime. 토니 블링컨 미 국무장관과 한국의 조태열 외교장관이 28일 워싱턴에서 만나 북한 문제를 비롯한 다양한 지역과 글로벌 도전에 대해 논의했다고 매튜 밀러 국무부 대변인이 밝혔습니다.
U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol met in Washington on the 28th to discuss various regional and global challenges, including North Korea, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

밀러 대변인은 29일 발표한 성명에서 두 장관은 “점증하는 북한의 공격적인 행동, 우크라이나 주민들을 공격하는데 사용될 탄도미사일의 러시아 이전을 포함한 유엔 안보리 결의의 반복적인 위반, 국내 탄압 강화에 대한 우려를 논의했다”고 밝혔습니다.
In a statement released on the 29th, Miller said the two ministers discussed "increasing North Korea's aggressive actions, repeated violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions, including the relocation of ballistic missiles to Russia to be used to attack Ukrainian residents, and concerns about intensifying domestic repression."

밀러 대변인은 두 장관이 “러시아의 침략에 대응하고 우크라이나에 대한 추가 지원을 제공하는 데 있어 지속적인 공조를 강조했다”고 밝혔습니다.
Miller said the two ministers "emphasized continued coordination in responding to Russian aggression and providing additional support to Ukraine."

블링컨 장관과 조 장관은 또 “70년이 넘는 미한동맹의 변함없는 힘을 강조하고, 지난 2월 22일 리우데자네이루 미한일 외교장관 회의에 이어 3국 관계의 중요성을 재확인했다”고 밀러 대변인은 말했습니다.
Blinken and Cho also "emphasized the unwavering power of the U.S.-Korea alliance over 70 years and reaffirmed the importance of trilateral relations following a meeting of foreign ministers between the U.S. and Japan in Rio de Janeiro on February 22, Miller said.

"Minister Blinken thanked South Korea for its efforts to hold the upcoming third Summit for Democracy," he said.

한국이 주최하는 3차 민주주의 정상회의는 다음 달 18일부터 20일까지 열립니다.
The 3rd Democratic Summit hosted by Korea will be held from the 18th to the 20th of next month.

한편 한국 외교부는 29일 발표한 보도자료에서 “조 장관이 취임 후 첫 한미 외교장관회담을 가졌다”며 “한미일 외교장관회의(2.22) 후 6일 만에 다시 만난 양 장관은 한미동맹·한미일 협력, 북핵‧북한 문제, 정보협력, 지역‧글로벌 현안 등에 대해 유익하고 심도깊은 논의를 했다”고 전했습니다.
Meanwhile, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release released on the 29th, "Minister Cho held his first foreign ministers' meeting since taking office. Minister Yang met again six days after the Korea-U.S.-Japan Foreign Ministers' Meeting (2.22) and had informative and in-depth discussions on the Korea-U.S. alliance, North Korea's nuclear and North Korea issues, intelligence cooperation, and regional and global issues."

그러면서 “양 장관은 연초부터 이어지고 있는 북한의 도발과 위협에 맞서 한미가 완전한 연대하에 대응하고 있음을 평가하고, 어떠한 도발에도 빈틈없이 대응할 수 있도록 적극 공조해 나가기로 했다”고 밝혔습니다.
Minister Yang said, "We will evaluate that South Korea and the U.S. are responding in full solidarity to North Korea's provocations and threats that have been continuing since the beginning of the year, and actively cooperate to respond to any provocation."
