텍사스주 상원, 미한동맹 70주년 기념 결의안 채택…“한국, 세계 평화 유지에 중요한 역할” > 정치

미국 텍사스주 상원에서 미한동맹 70주년을 기념하는 결의안이 채택됐습니다. 미 외교 정책의 핵심축 중 하나인 한국이 아시아와 세계 평화와 안정 유지에 중요한 역할을 해왔다고 평가했습니다. 이조은 기자입니다.
A resolution was adopted in the Texas Senate to mark the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea alliance. South Korea, one of the key pillars of U.S. foreign policy, has played an important role in maintaining peace and stability in Asia and the world. This is reporter Lee Jo-eun.

올해 미한동맹 70주년과 윤석열 한국 대통령의 미국 국빈 방문을 앞두고 텍사스주 상원이 23일 미한동맹 70주년 기념 결의안을 채택했습니다.
Ahead of this year's 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea alliance and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's state visit to the U.S., the Texas Senate adopted a resolution to mark the 70th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea alliance on the 23rd.

이번 결의안은 민주당의 세자르 블랑코 상원의원이 지난 20일 대표 발의했습니다.
The resolution was proposed by Democratic Senator Cesar Blanco on the 20th.

결의안은 미한 양국이 1953년 상호방위조약을 맺은 이후 “수십 년 동안 이 안보 관계가 포괄적인 글로벌 파트너십으로 진화하는 것을 목격했다”고 밝혔습니다.
The resolution says the U.S. and South Korea "have seen this security relationship evolve into a comprehensive global partnership for decades" since the two countries signed a mutual defense treaty in 1953.

[결의안] “The decades since have witnessed the evolution of this security relationship into a comprehensive global partnership; the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to a global comprehensive strategic alliance in May 2022; reflecting the importance of this friendship.”

특히 “양국은 지난 2022년 5월 글로벌 포괄적 전략 동맹에 대한 의지를 재확인했다”며 “이는 이런 우정의 중요성을 반영한다”고 강조했습니다.
In particular, he said, "The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to a global comprehensive strategic alliance in May 2022," and stressed, "This reflects the importance of this friendship."

아울러 “미 외교 정책의 핵심축 중 하나인 한국은 아시아와 세계의 평화와 안정 유지에 중요한 역할을 해왔다”고 평가했습니다.
He also said, "Korea, one of the key pillars of U.S. foreign policy, has played an important role in maintaining peace and stability in Asia and the world."

[결의안] “One of the linchpins of United States foreign policy, the Republic of Korea has played a vital role in maintaining peace and stability in Asia and the world; In addition to its longstanding relationship with the United States as a whole, the Republic of Korea has a strong connection to the Lone Star State in particular; Texas is home to more than 110,000 Korean Americans, and the Republic of Korea is the state ’s sixth-largest trading partner; Bound together by mutual respect and appreciation, as well as common interests, the Republic of Korea and the United States take pride in an enduring friendship that has fostered security, economic growth, and meaningful connections among the people of both our nations.”

또 “미국과의 오랜 관계에 더해 한국은 특히 텍사스와 강력한 관계를 갖고 있다”며 “텍사스는 11만 명 이상의 한국계 미국인들의 고향이고 한국은 텍사스에서 6번째로 큰 무역 상대국"이라고 덧붙였습니다.
"In addition to our long-standing relations with the United States, Korea has a particularly strong relationship with Texas," he said. "Texas is home to more than 110,000 Korean Americans, and Korea is the sixth-largest trading partner in Texas."

그러면서 “한국과 미국은 상호 존중과 감사, 그리고 공동의 이익으로 결속돼 안보와 경제성장, 양국 국민 간의 의미 있는 관계를 발전시켜 온 지속적인 우정을 자랑스럽게 생각한다”고 강조했습니다.
He emphasized, "South Korea and the United States are proud of their continued friendship that has developed security, economic growth, and meaningful relations between the people of the two countries by mutual respect, gratitude, and common interests."

텍사스주 하원에도 상원 결의와 같은 결의안이 지난 16일 발의돼 계류 중입니다.
A resolution similar to the Senate resolution was proposed and pending in the Texas House of Representatives on the 16th.
