지난해 11월 워싱턴 미국 국방부 청사에서 로이드 오스틴 장관과 이종섭 한국 국방장관이 회담에 이어 공동기자회견을 했다.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup will meet at the Defense Ministry building in Seoul on the 31st, the South Korean Defense Ministry said.
한국 국방부 관계자는 회담에서 “대북정책 공조, 미국 확장억제 실행력 강화 등 다양한 동맹 현안들이 논의될 것”이라고 설명했습니다.
A South Korean defense official explained at the meeting, "A variety of alliance issues will be discussed, including cooperation in North Korea policy and strengthening the execution capability of the U.S. expansionary deterrence."
두 장관은 회담 뒤 공동 기자회견도 가질 예정이며, 양측은 회담 결과물을 공동 보도자료 등 어떤 형식으로 정리할지 조율 중입니다.

오스틴 장관은 이번 방한에서 다음달 진행되는 미한 확장억제수단 운용연습(DSC TTX)에 대한 준비 상황을 점검할 것으로 전망됩니다.
