토니 블링컨 미 국무장관이 새롭게 취임한 박진 한국 외교장관과 첫 통화를 하고 한국과 다양한 국제 현안에서 긴밀히 협력할 의지를 확인했습니다. 한반도 비핵화와 미한일 3각 협력의 중요성을 강조했고 북한의 최근 미사일 발사들을 규탄했습니다. 조은정 기자가 보도합니다.
U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinkan made his first phone call with newly inaugurated South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin and confirmed his willingness to work closely with South Korea on various international issues. He stressed the importance of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and trilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Japan and condemned North Korea's recent missile launches. 토니 블링컨 국무장관이 12일 한국의 박진 신임 외교부 장관과 첫 전화통화를 하고 한반도 문제와 국제 현안들을 논의했습니다.
Secretary of State Tony Blinkan had his first telephone conversation with South Korea's new Foreign Minister Park Jin on the 12th to discuss issues on the Korean Peninsula and international issues.

네드 프라이스 국무부 대변인은 13일 발표한 성명에서 “핵심적인 국제 도전들에 대응하기 위한 계속된 미한 협력을 논의하기 위해 안토니 블링컨 장관이 전날 한국의 박진 외교부 장관과 통화를 했다”고 밝혔습니다.
In a statement released on the 13th, State Department spokesman Ned Price said, "Antony Blinkan spoke to South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin the day before to discuss continued U.S.-South Korea cooperation to respond to key international challenges."

프라이스 대변인은 “블링컨 장관이 5월 12일 박진 장관의 외교장관 임명을 축하했고, 다양한 중요한 양자, 역내, 국제 문제에 대해 한국과 긴밀히 협력하겠다는 미국의 의지를 재확인했다”고 밝혔습니다.
"On May 12, Blinkan congratulated Park on her appointment as foreign minister and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to working closely with South Korea on various important bilateral, regional and international issues," Price said.

이어 “블링컨 장관이 한국 방어에 대한 철통같은 상호 약속과 한반도의 완전한 비핵화라는 공통 목표, 인도태평양의 평화와 안보를 위한 일본과의 삼각 협력의 중요성을 강조했다”고 밝혔습니다.
"Minister Blinkan emphasized the importance of triangular cooperation with Japan for peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, the common goal of complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," he said.

[프라이스 대변인] “The Secretary emphasized our ironclad, mutual commitment to the defense of the ROK and our shared goal of the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, as well as the importance of trilateral cooperation with Japan in support of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Park condemned recent DPRK ballistic missile launches. In addition, the Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed U.S. and ROK efforts to provide assistance to Ukraine and hold the Kremlin and its enablers accountable for President Putin’s brutal, unprovoked war.”

프라이스 대변인은 “블링컨 장관과 박 장관이 북한의 최근 탄도 미사일 발사들을 규탄했다”고 밝혔습니다.
"Blingon and Park condemned North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches," Price said.

또 “우크라이나를 지원하고 푸틴 대통령의 잔인하고 정당한 이유 없는 전쟁과 관련해 크렘린 궁과 조력자들에게 책임을 묻는 노력에 대해서도 두 장관이 논의했다”고 덧붙였습니다.
"The two ministers also discussed efforts to support Ukraine and hold the Kremlin and its assistants accountable for Putin's brutal and unjustified war," he added.

한국 외교부도 두 장관이 박진 장관 취임 후 첫 화상 통화에서 한반도 문제와 미한 정상회담 준비 등 현안에 대해 의견을 교환했다고 밝혔습니다.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry also said the two ministers exchanged views on issues on the Korean Peninsula and preparations for the U.S.-South Korea summit in their first video call since Minister Park Jin took office.

두 장관은 12일 북한의 탄도미사일 발사 등 일련의 도발을 강력히 규탄하고, 굳건한 미한 연합방위태세를 유지하는 가운데 북한의 위협에 단호히 대응하기 위한 미한 공조를 강화해 가기로 했다고 한국 외교부가 밝혔습니다.
South Korea's foreign ministry said the two ministers strongly condemned North Korea's series of provocations, including its ballistic missile launch, and decided to strengthen U.S.-South Korea cooperation to sternly respond to North Korea's threats while maintaining a solid U.S.-South Korea defense posture.

또 미한 양국이 모두 북한과 대화에 열린 입장이라고 강조하고, ‘원칙과 일관성’이 있는 북한 비핵화 협상이 재개될 수 있도록 노력하기로 했다고 밝혔습니다.
He also stressed that both the U.S. and South Korea are open to dialogue with North Korea, and said they will try to resume negotiations on denuclearization of North Korea with "principles and consistency."

한국 외교부는 두 장관이 특히 북한 내 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증 발생에 대해서도 우려를 나타냈으며, 두 나라가 국제사회와 함께 대북 인도적 지원 방안에 대해서도 계속 협의하기로 했다고 밝혔습니다.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry says the two ministers expressed concern about the outbreak of the new coronavirus infection, especially in North Korea, and that the two countries have decided to continue discussing humanitarian aid to North Korea with the international community.

또 21일 서울에서 개최되는 조 바이든 미국 대통령과 윤석열 한국 대통령의 첫 정상회담 준비에 대해서도 논의했다고 밝혔습니다.
He also said he discussed preparations for the first summit between U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol in Seoul on the 21st.

블링컨 장관은 특히 한국의 새 정부 출범 후 역대 최단 기간에 바이든 대통령이 한국을 방문하는 것은 미국이 한국과 인도태평양 지역에 두는 중요도를 잘 보여준다고 말했다고 한국 외교부는 전했습니다.
The Foreign Ministry said Mr. Blinkan said Mr. Biden's visit to South Korea in the shortest time since the inauguration of a new government in South Korea illustrates the importance of the United States in Korea and the Indo-Pacific region.

그러면서 블링컨 장관이 다양한 현안에서의 미한 공조 강화의 토대를 구축해 나갈 것을 제안했다고 전했습니다.
In the meantime, Blinkan said he proposed to build the foundation for strengthening U.S.-South Korea cooperation on various pending issues.

두 장관은 이밖에 공급망 회복 등 경제안보 분야 협력의 중요성에도 공감하고 미한 간 전략적 소통 강화에 합의한 것으로 전해졌습니다.
In addition, the two ministers agreed on the importance of cooperation in economic and security fields, including the recovery of supply chains, and agreed to strengthen strategic communication between the U.S. and South Korea.
