미국과 일본이 28일 배터리 주요 광물 공급망에 대한 협정을 체결했습니다.
The U.S. and Japan signed an agreement on the battery's major mineral supply chain on the 28th.

캐서린 타이 미 무역대표부(USTR) 대표는 28일 성명을 내고 도미타 고지 주미 일본 대사와 ‘미-일 주요 광물 공급망 강화 협정’을 체결했다고 발표했습니다.
U.S. Trade Representative Catherine Tai issued a statement on the 28th and announced that she had signed a "major mineral supply chain strengthening agreement between the U.S. and Japan" with Japanese Ambassador Koji Tomita.

이 협정은 주요 광물 공급망을 다양화하고 강화하며, 전기 자동차 배터리 기술 확보를 골자로 합니다.
The agreement aims to diversify and strengthen major mineral supply chains and secure electric vehicle battery technology.

성명은 특히 주요 광물에 대한 수출 관세 부과를 면제하고, 공정한 경쟁과 시장지향적 조건을 마련하며 노동 및 환경 표준을 발전시키는 등 안전하고 투명하며 지속가능한 주요 광물 공급망 보장에 대한 양국의 노력을 명시했습니다.
The statement specifically outlined bilateral efforts to ensure a safe, transparent and sustainable supply chain of major minerals, including exempting export tariffs on major minerals, setting fair competition and market-oriented conditions, and advancing labor and environmental standards.

캐서린 타이 대표는 이날 발표는 “탄력적이고 안전한 공급망을 구축하겠다는 조 바이든 대통령의 의지를 보여준다”고 말했습니다.
The announcement "shows President Joe Biden's commitment to establishing a resilient and secure supply chain," CEO Catherine Ty said.

그러면서 “일본은 미국의 가장 소중한 무역 파트너 중 하나”라며 이 협정이 현재 양국 관계를 강화할 것이라고 말했습니다.
"Japan is one of America's most precious trading partners," he said, adding that the agreement would strengthen bilateral relations at present.

성명은 이 협정이 서명과 동시에 발효된다고 밝혔습니다.
The statement said the agreement will take effect upon signing.
