필리핀 대통령 “남중국해 관련 주권 무시될 경우 중국과의 협력 철회” > 세계

페르디난드 마르코스 필리핀 대통령은 4일 남중국해(필리핀명:서필리핀해)에서 자국 주권과 해양권이 무시당할 경우 중국과의 관련 협력을 철회할 것이라고 말했습니다.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos said on the 4th that he would withdraw related cooperation with China if his sovereignty and maritime rights were ignored in the South China Sea.

마르코스 대통령은 이날 호주를 방문한 자리에서 필리핀은 오랫동안 지연돼온 남중국해 행동강령(COC∙code of conduct) 마련을 위해 중국과 동남아시아 국가들과 협력하기로 약속했다면서 이같이 밝혔습니다.
During a visit to Australia, President Marcos said that the Philippines has promised to cooperate with China and Southeast Asian countries to prepare the long-delayed Code of Conduct (COC).

마르코스 대통령은 “이같은 (협력) 노력은 진공 상태에서 추구되지 않는다”며, 긴장 상태가 효과적으로 관리되는 우호적인 환경은 COC 협상의 성공에 매우 중요하다고 말했습니다.
"These (cooperation) efforts are not pursued in a vacuum," Marcos said, adding that a friendly environment in which tensions are effectively managed is critical to the success of the COC negotiations.

그러면서, 필리핀은 영토를 다른 나라에 내어주지 않을 것이라고 강조했습니다.
At the same time, the Philippines emphasized that it would not give up its territory to other countries.

COC는 중국과 아세안 10개 회원국들이 지난 2010년부터 논의해온 남중국해 내 영유권 분쟁을 방지하기 위한 규범의 일종입니다.

마르코스 대통령의 이날 발언은 최근 남중국해 내 스카보로 암초(필리핀명:바호 데 마신록∙중국명:황옌다오) 등지에서 필리핀과 중국 선박들이 마찰을 빚는 등 영유권을 놓고 갈등이 계속되고 있는 가운데 나왔습니다.
President Marcos's remarks came amid ongoing disputes over sovereignty, with Philippine and Chinese ships at the Scarboro reef (Philippines name: Bajo de Masinrok and China name: Huang Yendao) in the South China Sea.

한편 마르코스 대통령은 이날 필리핀과 미국의 동맹은 “우리 스스로의 선택으로 맺어진 것”이며, “우리 스스로의 선택으로 이를 계속 강화하고 있다”고 말했습니다.
Meanwhile, Marcos said the Philippines-U.S. alliance was "made by our own choice" and "continues to strengthen it by our own choice."

양국은 지난해 4월 필리핀 최북단 바타네스 제도에서 ‘발리카탄(Balikatan∙어깨를 나란히)’ 연합훈련을 실시하는 등 상호 군사 협력을 강화해왔습니다.
The two countries have strengthened mutual military cooperation by conducting a "Balikatan" joint exercise in the northernmost island of Batanes in the Philippines in April last year.
