EU 의장, 시진핑 주석 면담...”중국, 러시아에 유엔헌장 존중토록 영향력 행사해야” > 세계

샤를 미셸 유럽연합(EU) 정상회의 상임의장이 1일 중국 베이징에서 시진핑 국가주석과 만나 우크라이나 문제 등 국제 현안을 논의했습니다.
Charles Michel, chairman of the European Union summit, met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing on the 1st to discuss international issues such as Ukraine.

미셸 상임의장은 이날 면담 뒤 보도자료를 통해 “중국은 세계 주요국이자 유엔 안보리 상임이사국”이라며 “시 주석에게 유엔헌장을 존중하기 위해 러시아에 대한 영향력을 행사할 것을 촉구했다”고 밝혔습니다.
"China is a major country in the world and a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council," Michel said in a press release after the meeting. "We urged Xi to exercise his influence on Russia to respect the U.N. Charter."

그러면서 자신과 시 주석이 “핵 위협은 용납될 수 없고 매우 위험하며 국제사회를 위험에 빠뜨린다는 데 동의했다”고 말했습니다.
He and Xi said they agreed that "nuclear threats are unacceptable, very dangerous, and put the international community at risk."

또 러시아의 우크라이나 침공은 “주권국가에 대한 공격”이며, “노골적으로 국제법을 위반한 것”이라고 지적했습니다.
He also pointed out that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "an attack on a sovereign state" and "a blatant violation of international law."

이에 대해 시 주석은 “정치적 수단을 통해 우크라이나 위기를 해결하는 것이 유럽의 최선의 이익이자 유라시아 모든 나라들의 공동 이익”이라고 말했다고 중국 관영 `CCTV’가 보도했습니다.
In response, China's state-run CCTV reported that President Xi said, "It is in Europe's best interest and in the common interest of all Eurasian countries to resolve the Ukraine crisis through political means."

시 주석은 또 “현재 상황에서 위기 고조와 확대를 피하고 평화를 위해 노력해야 한다”고 강조했습니다.
President Xi also stressed that "in the current situation, we should avoid escalating and expanding the crisis and strive for peace."

이와 함께 “EU 기관들과 회원국들이 중국에 대한 객관적이고 올바른 인식을 확립하기 바란다”고 말했습니다.
In addition, he said, "We hope that EU institutions and member states will establish objective and correct perceptions of China."
