미 상무장관 “중국군의 최첨단 기술 보유 허용치 않을 것” > 세계

지나 레이몬도 미국 상무장관은 중국에 대응한 더 많은 노력이 필요하지만 미-중 경제의 상호 고립도 경계해야 한다고 말했습니다.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raymondo says more efforts are needed to respond to China, but caution against the mutual isolation of the U.S.-China economy.

레이몬도 장관은 어제(30일) 미 메사추세츠공대(MIT) 연설에서 중국과의 경쟁에서 미국의 대학들과 반도체와 연구를 위한 정부의 수십억 달러 자금, 그리고 전 세계 강력한 동맹은 미국의 자산이라고 말했습니다.
In a speech to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) yesterday (30th), Raymondo said that American universities, billions of dollars in government funding for semiconductors and research, and a strong global alliance are U.S. assets in the race against China.

하지만 “(미국이) 중국과 효과적으로 경쟁하는 것은 쉽지 않을 것”이라고 밝혔습니다.
However, he said, "It will not be easy for (the U.S.) to compete effectively with China."

레이몬도 장관은 중국이 “군사 역량에 동원하기 위해 최첨단 기술을 손에 넣길 원하며, 우리는 이를 허락하지 않을 것”이라고 강조했습니다.
Raymondo stressed that China "wants to get its hands on cutting-edge technology to mobilize military capabilities, and we will not allow it."

그러면서도 “우리 경제가 중국 경제와 어떤 식으로든 분리되는 것을 추구하지 않는다”고 강조했습니다.
At the same time, he stressed, "We do not seek to separate our economy from the Chinese economy in any way."

미국은 “수출통제와 투자심사 체제를 강화하고, 공급망 복원력을 개선하는 한편 중국의 경제적 강요와 인권 남용에 대응하기 위한 혁신적 해결책 개발을 목표로 한다”고 레이몬도 장관은 말했습니다.
The United States aims to "strengthen export controls and investment screening systems, improve supply chain resilience, and develop innovative solutions to counter China's economic coercion and human rights abuses," Raymondo said.

미 상무부는 지난달 24일 국가안보와 외교정책상 우려를 들어 12개 중국 기업을 제재 대상에 추가했습니다.
The U.S. Department of Commerce added 12 Chinese companies to the sanctions on the 24th of last month, citing concerns over national security and foreign policy.

또 지난 10월에는 핵무기 개발용 수퍼컴퓨터에 사용되는 반도체 등 미국 기술로 생산된 모든 반도체 칩에 대한 중국의 접근을 제한하는 수출통제 조치를 발표했습니다.
In October, it also announced export controls that would restrict China's access to all semiconductor chips produced with U.S. technology, including those used in supercomputers for developing nuclear weapons.
