미 "중국, 타이완 압박 지속할 듯" > 세계

타이완에 대한 중국의 압박은 앞으로도 계속될 것으로 보인다고 대니얼 크리튼브링크 미 국무부 동아시아태평양 담당 차관보가 밝혔습니다.
China's pressure on Taiwan is expected to continue, says Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Creightonbrink.

크리튼브링크 차관보는 17일 언론과의 전화 회견에서 중국이 타이완해협의 평화와 안정을 위협하고 있다며 이같이 말했습니다.
In a telephone interview with the media on the 17th, Critten Brink said China is threatening peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

크리튼브링크 차관보는 중국이 이달 초 낸시 펠로시 미국 하원의장의 타이완 방문에 대응해 타이완 일대에서 대규모 군사훈련을 실시한 사실을 지적하면서, “중국은 펠로시 의장의 방문을 타이완에 대한 압박을 강화하고 현상을 바꾸기 위한 구실로 사용했다”고 강조했습니다.
"China used Pelosi's visit as an excuse to increase pressure on Taiwan and change the status quo," Critton Brink said, noting that China conducted a massive military exercise in response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan earlier this month.

그러면서, “중국이 압박을 강화하는 것은 타이완을 위협하고 강제해 회복력을 약화시키는 것이 목표”라고 말했습니다.
"The goal of China's increased pressure is to intimidate and enforce Taiwan and weaken its resilience," he said.

크리튼브링크 차관보는 “미국은 중국의 압박이 앞으로 몇 주, 몇 달 동안 계속될 것으로 예측한다”고 말했습니다.
"The U.S. predicts that China's pressure will continue in the coming weeks and months," Critten Brink said.

이어 “미국은 평화와 안정을 수호하고 오랜 우리의 정책에 따라 타이완을 지원하기 위해 차분하지만 단호한 조치를 계속 취할 것”이라고 밝혔습니다.
"The United States will continue to take calm but decisive steps to safeguard peace and stability and to support Taiwan in accordance with our long-standing policies," he said.
