아프가니스탄에서 22일 규모 6.1의 강력한 지진이 발생해 지금까지 적어도 920명이 숨졌습니다.
A powerful 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing at least 920 people so far.

탈레반 정부 관계자는 “오늘 새벽 남동부 파크티카주에서 지진이 발생해 적어도 920명이 숨지고 600여명이 다쳤다”고 발표했습니다.
A Taliban official said at least 920 people were killed and 600 injured in an earthquake in the southeastern province of Paktika early this morning.

앞서 유럽지중해지진센터(EMSC)는 이날 오전 1시 24분 경 파키스탄과 국경을 접한 아프간 남동부 파크티카주 호스트 인근에서 규모 6.1의 지진이 발생했다고 발표했습니다.
Earlier in the day, the European Center for Mediterranean Earthquakes (EMSC) announced a 6.1 magnitude earthquake near the host in Paktika, southeast Afghanistan, bordering Pakistan, at around 1:24 a.m.

미국 지질조사국(USGS)도 호스트로부터 약 44km 떨어진 지점에서 규모 5.9의 지진이 발생했으며, 진원의 깊이는 51km라고 밝혔습니다.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) also said an earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude occurred about 44 kilometers from the host, with a depth of 51 kilometers.

유엔 인도주의업무조정국(UNOCHA)의 보고서에 따르면 아프가니스탄에서는 지난 10년간 약 7천명 이상이 지진으로 숨지는 등 한 해 평균 560명이 지진으로 사망했습니다.
An average of 560 people have died in earthquakes a year in Afghanistan, with more than 7,000 people dying in earthquakes over the past decade, according to a report by the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs and Coordination.

아프가니스탄은 특히 지방의 경우 주거지가 부실하게 세워져 지진으로 인한 피해가 심각한 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
Afghanistan is known to be severely damaged by the earthquake, especially in rural areas due to poor housing.
