중국 국무원은 19일, 존 리 행정장관 당선인의 요청에 따라 에릭 찬 행정장관 사무실 주임을 정무부총리에 임명했다고 밝혔습니다.
China's State Council said Wednesday it has appointed Eric Chan, the chief executive of its office, as deputy prime minister for political affairs at the request of Chief Executive Officer-elect John Lee.

에릭 찬 주임은 2020년 8월 도널드 행정부가 홍콩 국가보안법과 관련해 제재 대상에 올린 인물 가운데 1명입니다.
Director Eric Chan is one of the people who the Donald administration put on the list of sanctions related to Hong Kong's National Security Law in August 2020.

당시 보안장관으로서 나중에 정무부총리직에 오른 존 리 당선인도 미국의 제재 대상입니다.
John Lee, then-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, is also subject to U.S. sanctions.

한편 2019년 홍콩의 대규모 반정부 시위를 강경 진압했던 크리스 탕 보안장관과 레이몬드 시우 경무처장은 유임됐습니다.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Security Christang and Chief of Police Raymond Siu, who strongly suppressed massive anti-government protests in Hong Kong in 2019, have remained in office.

또 홍콩 경제를 주도할 재무장관도 현 폴 찬 장관이 유임됐으며, 법무장관은 테레사 청 장관이 물러나고 폴 람 홍콩 고등법원 판사가 임명됐습니다.
