라샤드 후세인 미국 국무부 국제종교자유대사가 유엔 북한인권조사위원회(COI) 보고서 발표 10주년을 맞아 북한의 종교 탄압 실태를 비판했습니다.
Rashad Hussein, the U.S. ambassador to the Department of State for International Religious Freedom, criticized North Korea's religious oppression on the 10th anniversary of the release of the U.N. Commission of Inquiry (COI) report.

후세인 대사는 22일 사회연결망 서비스 ‘X’ (구 트위터)에 올린 글에서 “유엔 COI의 획기적인 보고서는 여전히 북한의 끔찍한 인권 기록에 대한 가장 설득력 있고 포괄적인 문서 중 하나”라고 평가했습니다.
"The UN COI's groundbreaking report is still one of the most compelling and comprehensive documents on North Korea's terrible human rights record," Hussein said in a post on social network service "X" (formerly Twitter) on the 22nd.

이어 “북한 정권의 종교인에 대한 극심한 학대는 오늘날까지 계속되고 있다”며 “우리는 북한 정부가 보고서의 권고 사항을 이행할 것을 촉구한다”고 덧붙였습니다.
"The North Korean regime's extreme abuse of religious people continues to this day," he said, adding, "We urge the North Korean government to implement the report's recommendations."

후세인 대사는 지난 17일 COI 보고서 발간 10주년을 맞아 매튜 밀러 미 국무부 대변인이 ‘X’에 올린 글을 ‘리트윗’하며 이 같은 입장을 밝혔습니다.
On the 10th anniversary of the publication of the COI report on the 17th, Ambassador Hussein made the statement, "retweeting" a post on "X" by U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

앞서 밀러 대변인은 자신의 ‘X’ 계정에서 “획기적인 유엔 COI 보고서가 발표된 지 10년이 지났지만 북한의 인권 상황은 여전히 세계 최악”이라며 “우리는 북한 정부가 보고서의 권고 사항을 이행하고 국민의 권리와 존엄성을 존중할 것을 촉구한다”고 강조했습니다.
Earlier, Miller said in his "X" account, "It has been 10 years since the release of the landmark UN COI report, but the human rights situation in North Korea remains the worst in the world."

2014년 2월 17일 발표된 COI 보고서는 북한 정권의 조직적이고 광범위하며 심각한 인권 침해 실태를 고발했습니다.
The COI report, released on February 17, 2014, accused the North Korean regime of systematic, widespread and serious human rights violations.

보고서는 북한에 대해선 종교의 자유 인정을 포함해 정치적 제도적 개혁과 이동의 자유, 식량권 보장 등 19가지 사항을 권고했습니다.
The report recommended 19 items for North Korea, including political and institutional reforms, freedom of movement, and food rights guarantees, including the recognition of religious freedom.
