한국 '연합뉴스'는 29일 보도에서, 지난 22일과 24일 사흘간 한국의 해군 잠수함사령관 이수열 소장과 미군 7잠수함전단장 릭 시프 준장이 제주 해군기지에서 만나 한미 잠수함전투회의(SWCM)를 개최했다고 전했습니다.
South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on the 29th that South Korea's Navy submarine commander Lee Soo-yeol and U.S. 7th submarine commander Brigadier General Rick Schiff met at Jeju Naval Base for three days on the 22nd and 24th to hold the Korea-U.S. Submarine Combat Conference (SWCM).
보도에 따르면 시프 준장은 이번 회의에서 "양국의 잠수함전 회의는 자유롭고 개방된 인도 태평양을 보장하고, 양국 간 수중 영역에서의 협력을 지속해서 확대하는 데 크게 일조하고 있다"고 말했습니다.
"The submarine warfare conference between the two countries is a major contributor to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific and continuing to expand cooperation in the underwater area between the two countries," Brigadier General Sif said at the meeting.
한편, 미국의 전략 핵잠수함인 '메인함'이 현재 한반도를 향해 북상하고 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
