미한, 대북 연합잠수함 훈련 추진 논의…내년 ‘사일런트 샤크’ 추진 > 정치

북한의 잠수함발사 탄도미사일, SLBM 위협이 커지는 가운데 미한이 내년 연합 잠수함 훈련 추진 등 대북 억제 방안을 논의했습니다.
Amid growing threats from North Korea's submarine-launched ballistic missiles and SLBMs, the U.S. and U.S. discussed ways to curb North Korea, including pushing for joint submarine drills next year.

이수열 한국 해군 잠수함사령관은 최근 미국령 괌의 미 해군 제7잠수함전단과 제15잠수함전대 등을 방문해 양국 잠수함전 작전회의를 진행했다고 한국 군 당국이 밝혔습니다.
South Korean military authorities say South Korean Navy submarine commander Lee Soo-yeol recently visited the U.S. Navy's 7th and 15th Submarine Squadron in Guam to hold a meeting on submarine warfare between the two countries.

미한은 회의에서 연합 잠수함 작전과 전구 대잠전 수행 능력 향상을 위한 협의를 진행하면서 특히 내년 중순 ‘사일런트 샤크’ 연합 잠수함 훈련을 추진하는 방안을 논의했습니다.
At the meeting, the U.S. and South Korea discussed ways to promote joint submarine training, especially in the middle of next year, while discussing joint submarine operations and improving their ability to carry out light-bulb anti-submarine warfare.

‘사일런트 샤크’ 훈련은 원자력 잠수함만 보유한 미 해군이 디젤 추진 잠수함을 실전적으로 상대할 필요가 있다는 판단에 따라 한국에 훈련을 요청해 2007년부터 홀수년마다 격년제로 시행되고 있습니다.
The Silent Shark" exercise has been conducted every other year since 2007 when the U.S. Navy, which owns only nuclear submarines, requested training from South Korea based on the judgment that it needs to deal with diesel-powered submarines in practice.

이 훈련은 은밀히 운용하고 전개하는 잠수함 전력 특성상 미한 양국이 외부에 알리거나 공개적으로 진행한 적이 거의 없는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
