백악관 “중국 ‘마이크론’ 제재 근거 없어…동맹과 협력해 경제 강압 대응” > 경제

백악관은 미국 반도체 기업에 대한 중국의 제재 조치에 대해 근거가 없다며 일축했습니다. 동맹들과 협력해 중국의 경제 강압에 대응하고 있다고 강조했습니다. 조상진 기자가 보도합니다.

백악관은 26일 중국이 미국의 반도체 기업 ‘마이크론’에 대해 안보 위협을 이유로 제재 조치한 데 대해 “중국의 발표는 사실에 근거하지 않는다”는 기존 입장을 확인했습니다.
On the 26th, the White House confirmed its previous position that "China's announcement is not based on facts" in response to China's sanctions against the U.S. semiconductor company "Micron" citing security threats.

백악관 국가안보회의(NSC) 대변인은 이날 VOA의 관련 서면 질의에 이같이 답하고 “우리 입장을 상세히 설명하고 그들의 행동에 대해 보다 명확히 파악하기 위해 중국과 직접 관여하고 있다”고 설명했습니다.
A White House National Security Council spokesman responded to VOA's related written questions and explained that "we are directly involved with China to elaborate on our position and get a clearer picture of their actions."

앞서 중국은 지난 21일 미국 반도체 기업 마이크론 제품이 중국에 심각한 보안 위험을 초래한다며, 자국의 주요 정보기술(IT) 인프라에 마이크론 제품 구매를 중지하도록 한 바 있습니다.
Earlier on the 21st, China ordered the U.S. semiconductor company Micron to stop purchasing Micron products in its major IT infrastructure, saying it poses a serious security risk to China.

백악관 NSC 대변인은 중국의 이번 조치는 중국의 경제적 강압에 반대한다고 밝힌 최근 주요 7개국(G7) 정상들의 강력한 입장을 약화시키려는 시도라고 지적했습니다.
A White House NSC spokesman says China's move is an attempt to undermine the recent strong stance of the G7 leaders, who have said they oppose China's economic coercion.

[백악관 NSC 대변인] “The PRC’s action is an attempt to undermine the strong stance taken by the G7 against economic coercion. It came just one day after G7 leaders issued their first-ever statement on economic resilience and security, which expressed serious concern over the use of coercive economic practices, and committed to countering such efforts.”

또한 “중국의 이번 조치와 최근 다른 미국 기업들에 대한 압수수색 및 표적화 조치는 중국이 시장을 개방하고 투명한 규제 체계에 전념하고 있다는 주장과도 일치하지 않는다”고 비판했습니다.
It also criticized, "China's move and recent raids and targeting of other U.S. companies are also inconsistent with claims that China is committed to opening up markets and a transparent regulatory framework."

"We are working closely with our allies and partners to deal with distortion in the memory semiconductor market caused by China's actions and to respond extensively to coercive economic practices," he reiterated.

미국 정부는 지난 21일 중국의 ‘마이크론’ 제재가 시행된 이후 줄곧 “중국의 주장은 근거가 없다”는 일관되고 분명한 입장을 견지하고 있습니다.
The U.S. government has maintained a consistent and clear position that "China's claims are groundless" since China's "Micron" sanctions were implemented on the 21st.

앞서 미국 상무부 대변인은 중국의 제재 발표 직후 21일 중국 당국의 지적이 사실 무근이라며, 마이크론 사에 대한 조치에 단호히 반대한다고 밝혔다고 로이터 통신 등 미국 언론들이 전했습니다.
Reuters and other U.S. media reported that a spokesman for the U.S. Commerce Department earlier said on the 21st that the Chinese authorities' comments were groundless and firmly opposed to the action against Micron.

또 존 커비 백악관 NSC 전략소통조정관도 지난 24일 온라인 브리핑에서 “중국의 발표는 근거가 없다”고 밝히면서 “G7 정상회담 공동성명에서 언급한 것처럼 강압적인 경제 관행에 대해 계속 대항할 것”이라고 강조한 바 있습니다.
White House NSC Strategic Communication Coordinator John Kirby also said in an online briefing on the 24th that "China's announcement is groundless," stressing that "We will continue to counter coercive economic practices as mentioned in the G7 summit joint statement."
