바이든 “한화 ‘조지아주 태양광 투자’ 미국 경제 대형호재…IRA 직접적 성과” > 경제

한국 기업이 대규모 미국 내 태양광 투자 계획을 발표하자 미국 대통령이 별도의 성명을 통해 환영을 표시했습니다. 인플레이션감축법(IRA)의 직접적 성과라고 강조했습니다. 박형주 기자가 보도합니다.
The U.S. president welcomed South Korean companies in a separate statement as they announced plans to invest in large-scale solar energy in the U.S. It was emphasized as a direct result of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Reporter Park Hyung-joo reports.

조 바이든 미국 대통령이 11일 성명을 통해 “미국 역사상 최대의 태양광 투자를 하겠다는 오늘 한화 큐셀의 발표는 조지아주 노동자 가족과 미국 경제에 대형호재”라고 말했습니다.
U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement on the 11th, "Today's announcement by Hanwha Q Cells to make the largest solar energy investment in U.S. history is a big boon for Georgia's workers' families and the U.S. economy."

이어 "이번 투자는 나의 경제 계획과 인플레이션감축법(IRA)의 직접적인 결과물"이라고 강조했습니다.
"This investment is a direct result of my economic plan and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)."

앞서 한화솔루션은 이날 서울에서 기자회견을 열고 미국 조지아주에 3조 2천억 원, 미화로 약 25억 달러를 투자해 태양광 통합 생산단지 '솔라 허브'를 구축한다고 발표했습니다.
Hanwha Solutions held a press conference in Seoul earlier in the day and announced that it will invest 3.2 trillion won in Georgia, the U.S., and about 2.5 billion dollars in U.S. dollars to build an integrated solar production complex called Solar Hub.

이번 투자는 미국 태양광 에너지 산업 역사상 최대 규모입니다.
The investment is the largest in the history of the U.S. solar energy industry.

이와 관련해 바이든 대통령은 "한화 큐셀의 투자는 조지아주에서 수천 개의 좋은 일자리를 창출할 것이고, 이중 상당 부분은 4년제 대학 학위가 필요하지 않을 것"이라고 말했습니다.
In this regard, President Biden said, "Hanwha Q-Cell's investment will create thousands of good jobs in Georgia, much of which will not require a four-year college degree."

이어 “이번 투자가 우리의 공급망을 되찾아 올 것이기 때문에 다른 나라에 의존하지 않고 청정에너지 비용을 낮추며 기후위기에 대처하는 데 도움이 될 것"이라고 덧붙였습니다.
"Because this investment will bring back our supply chain, it will help us cope with the climate crisis by lowering clean energy costs without relying on other countries," he added.

또한 "미국에서 최첨단 태양광 기술을 제조할 수 있도록 보장할 것"이라며 이는 "노동자, 소비자, 우리의 기후를 위한 승리"라고 의미를 부여했습니다.
"We will ensure that we manufacture cutting-edge solar technology in the United States," he said, adding that it was a "victory for workers, consumers, and our climate."

그러면서 "나의 지도력 아래 미국은 제조업에서 다시 한번 세계를 이끌 수 있을 것"이라고 강조했습니다.
He emphasized, "Under my leadership, the United States will once again be able to lead the world in manufacturing."

카린 장-피에르 백악관 대변인도 이날 브리핑에서 한화솔루션의 투자 계획을 언급하며 “이 투자는 조지아주에서 2천 500개의 일자리를 창출할 것이며 미국 태양광 제조 분야에서 단일 투자로는 최대 규모”라고 밝혔습니다.
White House spokesman Carin Jean-Pierre also mentioned Hanwha Solution's investment plan at a briefing, saying, "This investment will create 2,500 jobs in Georgia and is the largest single investment in solar manufacturing in the United States."

그러면서 한화 측도 인플레이션감축법이 이번 투자를 가능하게 하는 데 중요한 역할을 했다고 말했다고 강조했습니다.
Hanwha also stressed that the inflation reduction law played an important role in making this investment possible.

Hanwha Solutions, the No. 1 operator in the U.S. solar module market, will have all of its key solar production lines in the U.S. through this investment.

이번 투자는 기후변화 대응과 재생에너지 산업을 지원하는 인플레이션감축법에 대한 대응 차원인 것으로 해석되고 있습니다.
The investment is interpreted as a response to climate change and inflation reduction laws that support the renewable energy industry.

올해부터 본격적으로 발효된 IRA에 따라 현지에서 태양광 제품을 생산하는 기업은 세액 공제를 포함해 다양한 정부 지원을 받을 수 있기 때문입니다.
Under the IRA, which took effect in earnest this year, companies that produce solar products locally can receive various government support, including tax credits.

최근 첨단기술과 핵심 공급망 분야에서 미한 경제 관계가 확대 강화하는 가운데 한국의 주요 대기업들이 IRA의 직간접적인 영향을 받으면서 이 문제가 미한 당국의 주요 현안으로 떠올랐습니다.
The issue has emerged as a major issue for the U.S. authorities as major Korean conglomerates are directly or indirectly affected by the IRA amid the recent expansion and strengthening of U.S. economic ties in high-tech and core supply chains.

특히 미국과 한국은 IRA 시행에 따른 한국산 전기차 보조금 배제 문제와 관련해 현재 해결 방안을 협의하고 있습니다.
In particular, the United States and Korea are currently discussing solutions to the exclusion of subsidies for Korean electric vehicles following the implementation of the IRA.
