백악관 “미한 정상, ‘인플레법 한국 우려’ 논의…관여 채널 유지” > 경제

조 바이든 대통령이 뉴욕에서 한국의 윤석열 대통령과 회동할 당시 미국의 인플레이션감축법에 따른 한국의 우려에 대해 논의했다고 백악관이 확인했습니다. 양측이 관련 문제를 해소하기 위해 노력할 것이라는 점도 확인했습니다. 박형주 기자가 보도합니다.

조 바이든 대통령과 윤석열 한국 대통령이 유엔총회를 계기로 만난 자리에서 ‘한국산 전기차 보조금 배제’ 문제를 논의했다고 백악관이 22일 확인했습니다.
The White House confirmed on the 22nd that President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met at the UN General Assembly to discuss the issue of "exclusion of subsidies for Korean electric vehicles."

백악관 국가안보회의 NSC 대변인실은 ‘두 정상이 미국 인플레이션감축법안(IRA)에 따른 한국의 우려에 대해 논의했느냐’는 이날 VOA의 문의에, “이 문제가 정상 간 회동에서 논의 주제 중 하나였다”고 밝혔습니다.
Asked by VOA whether the two leaders discussed South Korea's concerns under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the NSC spokesman's office of the White House National Security Council said, "This issue was one of the topics to be discussed at the summit."

"President Biden said (to President Yoon Suk Yeol) that our team is committed to maintaining a channel of involvement with the Korean government regarding South Korea's concerns about certain provisions of the law," he explained.

전날 한국 대통령실은 유엔총회 등을 계기로 한 미한 정상 간 회동 소식을 전하며 “윤 대통령이 바이든 대통령에게 미국의 인플레감축법과 관련한 한국 업계의 우려를 설명한 뒤 미국 행정부가 인플레감축법을 집행하는 과정에서 한국 측 우려를 해소할 수 있도록 한미 간 긴밀히 협력해줄 것을 요청했다”고 밝혔습니다.
On the previous day, the Korean presidential office reported that the U.N. General Assembly held a meeting between the leaders of South Korea and the U.S. and asked President Yoon to cooperate closely to resolve Korean concerns in the process of implementing the U.S. inflation reduction law.

또 바이든 대통령이 이에 대해 “한국 측의 우려를 잘 알고 있다면서 미한 간 계속해서 진지한 협의를 이어 나가자”고 답했다고 설명했습니다.
He also explained that President Biden replied, "I am well aware of the concerns of South Korea, and let's continue serious consultations between the U.S. and South Korea."

앞서 백악관은 관련 회동에 대한 첫 보도자료에서 공급망 회복력과 핵심 기술 등 광범위한 우선순위 현안에 대한 협력을 논의했다고만 밝혔는데, 이번 답변을 통해 인플레이션감축법 문제가 실제로 정상 간 논의된 사실을 확인한 것입니다.
In its first press release on the meeting, the White House said it had discussed cooperation on a wide range of priority issues, including supply chain resilience and key technologies, confirming that inflation reduction was actually discussed between leaders.

바이든 대통령과 윤석열 대통령은 전날 유엔총회가 열린 뉴욕에서 진행된 글로벌펀드 제7차 재정공약회의와 바이든 대통령 주최 리셉션 등에서 만나 대화를 나눴습니다.
President Biden and President Yoon Suk Yeol met and talked at the 7th Financial Pledge Conference of the Global Fund in New York, where the UN General Assembly was held the previous day, and at a reception hosted by President Biden.

두 정상이 만나 현안을 논의한 것은 지난 5월 21일 서울에서 열린 미한 정상회담 이후 약 4개월 만입니다.
It is the first time in about four months that the two leaders met to discuss pending issues since the U.S.-South Korea summit in Seoul on May 21.
