The U.S. State Department said the U.S. goal is still complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, adding that it does not have hostile intentions against North Korea.

An official from the State Department spokesman's office said on the 12th, "We are ready to meet with North Korea and have serious and continuous diplomacy without preconditions," adding, "We hope North Korea will positively accept our proposal for meeting."

Chairman Kim previously argued in a commemorative speech at the Defense Development Exhibition on the 11th in Korean Peninsula time that "the U.S. has recently frequently sent signals that it is not hostile to North Korea, but there is no behavioral basis to believe it is not hostile."

A State Department official said, "Our policy requires a well-coordinated and practical approach to pursuing serious and continuous diplomacy with North Korea," adding, "This is to make practical progress in promoting the security of the United States, our allies, and our troops stationed abroad."

The U.S. Department of Defense also stressed the importance of diplomacy.

Defense Ministry spokesman John Kirby said at a regular briefing on the 12th, "We continue to support the coordinated diplomatic efforts of the Biden administration to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula and ensure North Korea's denuclearization."
