페르디난드 마르코스 필리핀 대통령이 19일 미국 인도태평양사령부(인태사령부)를 방문했습니다.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos visited the Indo-Pacific Command in the U.S. on the 19th.

인태사령부는 20일 보도자료를 통해 마르코스 대통령이 17일부터 하와이 호놀룰루를 방문하는 동안 이날 인태사령부를 방문하고 진주만의 미 애리조나 기념관에 헌화했다고 전했습니다.
The Intae Command said in a press release on the 20th that President Marcos visited the Intae Command and laid flowers at the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor during his visit to Honolulu, Hawaii, from the 17th.

그러면서, 이들 행사는 “1951년 미국-필리핀 상호방위조약으로 명문화된 필리핀과의 강력한 민주, 경제, 전략 동반자 관계를 더욱 발전시켰다”고 평가했습니다.
At the same time, these events "have further developed a strong democratic, economic and strategic partnership with the Philippines, as stipulated by the 1951 U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty."

인태사령부는 이어 양국 간 안보 협력 증진∙평화 발전 독려∙비상사태 대비∙침략 억제와 아울러 필요한 경우 승리를 위해 싸움으로써 동맹국과 파트너 국가들과 함께 역내 안정 강화에 전념하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
The ministry went on to say that it is committed to strengthening regional stability along with its allies and partners by promoting security cooperation between the two countries, encouraging peaceful development, preparing for emergencies, curbing aggression, and fighting for victory if necessary.

한편 마르코스 대통령은 이번 방문 뒤 언론 인터뷰에서 필리핀과 미국이 군사와 정치, 경제 등 다양한 분야에서 상호 역량과 조율을 개선하는 방안을 논의하고 있다고 말했습니다.
Meanwhile, President Marcos said in a media interview after his visit that the Philippines and the United States were discussing ways to improve mutual capacity and coordination in various fields, including military, political and economic fields.

앞서 로이드 오스틴 미 국방장관과 길버트 테오도로 필리핀 국방장관은 지난 15일 인도네시아 자카르타에서 열린 동남아시아국가연합(ASEAN∙아세안) 국방장관 회의를 계기로 만나 국방 협력 방안을 논의한 바 있습니다.
Earlier, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Philippine Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro met on the occasion of a meeting of defense ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the 15th to discuss ways to cooperate in defense.

미국과 필리핀의 군사 협력 강화 움직임은 최근 필리핀과 중국이 남중국해에서 영유권 문제로 군사적 대치와 외교적 마찰을 계속해온 가운데 이뤄졌습니다.
