미국의 성소수자(LGBTQ) 인권 담당 특사가 다음 주로 예정됐던 인도네시아 방문을 취소했습니다.
The U.S. LGBTQ special envoy for human rights has canceled a visit to Indonesia scheduled for next week.

미국은 제시카 스턴 LGBTQ 특사 방문과 관련한 인도네시아 측의 우려를 고려해 이같이 결정했다고 2일 밝혔습니다.
The U.S. said on the 2nd that it made the decision in consideration of Indonesia's concerns regarding the visit of LGBTQ envoy Jessica Stone.

인도네시아 최고 이슬람 학자들로 구성된 울레마협의회(Ulema Council)는 2일 성명을 내고 미국 LGBTQ 특사의 방문이 국가의 종교와 문화 가치를 해할 수 있다고 밝혔습니다.
The Ulema Council, composed of Indonesia's top Islamic scholars, issued a statement on the 2nd saying the visit of the U.S. LGBTQ envoy could harm the country's religious and cultural values.

안와르 압바스 울레마협의회 부의장은 성명에서 문명화된 종교 국가로서 손님을 존중해야 하지만, “우리나라 종교와 문화의 숭고한 가치를 해하고 망치려는 목적으로 오는 손님은 받아들일 수 없다”고 말했습니다.
The deputy chairman of the Ulemma Council, Anwar Abbas, said in a statement that guests should be respected as a civilized religious nation, but "we cannot accept guests coming for the purpose of harming and ruining the noble values of our religion and culture."

이에 미 국무부 대북특별대표를 겸하는 성김 주인도네시아 대사는 성명에서 미국은 성수자(LGBTQ+) 인권에 관한 대화를 이어가길 희망한다면서도 인도네시아 정부와 논의 끝에 특사 방문을 취소하기로 결정했다고 밝혔습니다.
In a statement, Indonesian Ambassador Sung Kim, who also serves as the State Department's special representative for North Korea, said the U.S. wants to continue talks on LGBTQ+ human rights, but decided to cancel the visit after discussions with the Indonesian government.

그러면서, 인도네시아와 미국 같은 국가는 증오에 맞서고 모두를 위한 더 번영하고 포용적인 사회를 보장하는 방법에 관해 서로에게 배울 점이 있다고 말했습니다.
In the meantime, countries like Indonesia and the United States said they had something to learn from each other about how to fight hatred and ensure a more prosperous and inclusive society for all.

한편, 인도네시아 외무부 대변인은 미국의 LGBTQ 특사 방문과 관련해 추가 입장을 밝힐 수 없다고 AP 통신이 보도했습니다.
Meanwhile, an Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman said he could not make any additional position regarding the visit of the U.S. special envoy to LGBTQ, the Associated Press reported.
