중국 국방부는 이날 기자의 질문에 대헤 탄커페이 대변인이 응답하는 형식의 성명을 내놓고 웨이펑허 중국 국방부장과 로이드 오스틴 미국 국방장관이 오는 22일 열리는 동남아시아국가연합(ASEAN·아세안) 확대 국방장관회의에서 회담할 가능성에 열려 있다고 확인했습니다.
China's Ministry of Defense issued a statement in the form of a spokesman for Dahe Tankerfei's response to a reporter's question, confirming that Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are open to talks at the ASEAN (ASEAN) expanded defense ministers' meeting on the 22nd.
탄 대변인은 이 성명에서 “중국은 아세안 확대 국방장관회의 기간에 미국 측과 교류하는 데 적극적이고 개방적인 태도를 취하고 있으며, 양측의 관련 부처는 이를 위해 소통하고 조율하고 있다”고 말했습니다.
"China is active and open to interacting with the U.S. during the ASEAN expanded defense ministers' meeting, and related ministries on both sides are communicating and coordinating for this," Tan said in the statement.
이같은 성명은 지난 14일 인도네시아에서 주요 20개국(G20) 정상회의를 계기로 조 바이든 미국 대통령과 시진핑 중국 국가주석이 만난 이후 6일 만에 나온 것입니다.
The statement came six days after U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Indonesia on the occasion of the G20 summit on the 14th.
제9차 아세안 확대 국방장관회의는 오는 22일부터 24일에 걸쳐 캄보디아에서 열리며, 이 자리에는 아세안 국가들 외에도 미국과 중국을 비롯해 한국, 일본, 호주 등의 국방장관들도 참석합니다.
