미국 CDC, 6개월~5세 미만 코로나 백신 접종 승인 > 세계

미국 질병통제예방센터(CDC)가 18일, 생후 6개월부터 5살 미만 영유아에 대한 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증 백신 접종을 승인했습니다.
On the 18th, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved vaccinations for infants from six months old to under the age of five.

CDC의 이 같은 조처는 CDC 자문기구인 예방접종자문위원회(ACIP)의 만장일치 권고에 따른 것입니다.
This measure follows the unanimous recommendation of the CDC Advisory Committee on Vaccination (ACIP).

로셸 월렌스키 CDC 국장은 성명에서 "수백만 명의 부모와 보호자가 자녀들의 백신 접종을 간절히 원하는 것을 알고 있다”면서 “오늘의 결정으로 이제 백신을 맞을 수 있게 됐다”라고 밝혔습니다.
"We know that millions of parents and guardians are desperate to get their children vaccinated," CDC Director Rochelle Wallensky said in a statement. "With today's decision, we can now get vaccinated."

이번 결정으로 미국 내에서 약 1천800만 명의 영유아가 백신을 접종할 수 있게 됐습니다.
The decision will allow about 18 million infants and children to be vaccinated in the United States.

접종은 다음 주부터 시작될 것으로 예상됩니다.
The vaccination is expected to begin next week.

한편 전날(17일) 미국 식품의약국(FDA)은 생후 6개월부터 5살 미만 영유아에 대한 화이자와 모더나 백신 접종을 승인했습니다.
Meanwhile, on the previous day (17th), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the vaccination of Pfizer and Moderna for infants from six months old to under five years old.

화이자 백신은 3회, 모더나는 2회에 걸쳐 접종이 이뤄집니다.
The Pfizer vaccine is inoculated three times and Moderna two times.

화이자는 임상시험 결과 자사 백신이 약 80%의 예방 효과가 있다고 밝혔습니다.
Pfizer says its vaccine is about 80 percent preventive.

모더나는 6개월에서 2세 사이는 51%, 2세에서 5세에는 37%의 예방 효과를 확인했다고 발표했습니다.
Moderna announced that 51% of the preventive effects were confirmed between the ages of six months and two years and 37% between the ages of two and five.
