미국 국방부는 오스틴 장관이 13일 러시아의 우크라이나 침공 이후 처음으로 세르게이 쇼이구 러시아 국방장관과의 통화에서 이같이 촉구하고 미국과 러시아 간 통신선 유지 등 소통의 중요성을 강조했다고 밝혔습니다.
The U.S. Defense Department says Austin urged Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on the 13th in his first phone call since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, stressing the importance of communication between the U.S. and Russia.

‘로이터’ 통신은 익명의 미국 관리를 인용해 이날 통화가 오스틴 장관의 요청으로 1시간가량 진행됐지만, 구체적인 문제 해결이나 우크라이나에 대한 러시아의 행동에 직접적인 변화를 이끌지는 못했다고 전했습니다.
Reuters quoted an unnamed U.S. official as saying the call lasted for about an hour at the request of Secretary Austin, but it did not lead to a specific problem resolution or direct change in Russia's behavior toward Ukraine.
