중국 "남태평양 국가와 협력, 역내 안정 도움" > 세계

샤오치엔 호주 주재 중국대사는 12일 중국의 남태평양 섬나라들과의 관여는 호주에 아무런 위협이 되지 않는다고 말했습니다.
China's ambassador to Australia, Xiao Qien, said on Wednesday that China's involvement with the South Pacific island nations poses no threat to Australia.

샤오 대사는 이날자 '오스트레일리안 파이낸셜 리뷰' 신문에 실린 기고문에서 “중국과 남태평양 섬나라들 간 협력은 양측의 행복과 역내 번영, 안정에 도움이 되며, 어떤 경우에도 호주의 안보에 위협이 되지 않는다”고 주장했습니다.
"Cooperation between China and the South Pacific islands helps both sides' happiness, regional prosperity and stability, and in no case poses a threat to Australia's security," Xiao said in an article in the Australian Financial Review newspaper.

특히 "중국의 부상이 호주에게 위협으로 비춰져서는 안된다"고 강조했습니다.
In particular, he stressed that "China's injury should not be seen as a threat to Australia."

샤오 대사의 기고문은 중국의 고위 대표단이 솔로몬 제도와의 안보협정 체결을 마무리 짓기 위해 조만간 솔로몬 제도를 방문할 예정이라는 보도에 뒤이은 것입니다.
Xiao's contribution follows reports that a senior Chinese delegation will soon visit the Solomon Islands to conclude a security agreement with the Solomon Islands.

이와 관련해 스콧 모리슨 호주 총리는 이날 기자들과 만나 “태평양 내 중국 정부의 간섭이 어떤 결과도 없다는 샤오 대사의 견해에 동의하지 못한다”고 반박했습니다.
In this regard, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters, "I do not agree with Xiao's view that the Chinese government's interference in the Pacific has no consequences."

모리슨 총리는 “나는 오히려 그것이 중대한 결과를 불러온다고 생각한다”고 말했습니다.
Mr Morrison said: "I rather think it has significant consequences.

이어 “나는 그것이 호주 안에 있든, 태평양을 너머 있든 중국 정부가 정의하는 국익이 아닌 호주의 국익을 지지한다”며, “이 때문에 나는 항상 이 문제와 관련해 강한 입장을 취해왔다”고 밝혔습니다.
"I support Australia's national interest, not the national interest defined by the Chinese government, whether it is in Australia or beyond the Pacific Ocean," he said. "Because of this, I have always taken a strong position on this issue."
