미 하원, 미북 이산가족 상봉 법안 이어 결의안도 의결 > 사회

미국 하원에서 20일 미-북 이산가족 상봉을 촉구하는 결의안이 채택됐습니다.
The U.S. House of Representatives has adopted a resolution calling for the reunion of separated families in the U.S. and North Korea on Tuesday.

민주당 캐런 배스 의원과 한국계인 공화당 영 김 의원이 공동 발의한 이 결의안은 앞서 지난 4월 말 소관 상임위인 외교위원회를 만장일치로 통과했었습니다.
The resolution, jointly proposed by Democrat Karen Bath and Korean-American Republican Young Kim, passed the Foreign Relations Committee in late April.

결의안은 미국과 북한이 직계 이산가족들의 상봉 절차를 시작하고, 양측이 시범상봉 프로그램에 참여하고자 하는 이산가족 규모를 파악할 것을 촉구했습니다.
The resolution urged the U.S. and North Korea to begin the process of reunions of their immediate families and to figure out the size of separated families that both sides want to participate in a pilot reunion program.

또 적십자와 같은 기구를 통해 이산가족 명단에 있는 회원을 서로 연결하고, 남북 이산가족 화상상봉에 한국계 미국인도 포함시키기 위해 한국 정부와 혐의할 것을 미 정부에 촉구하는 내용이 담겼습니다.
It also calls on the U.S. government to connect members on the separated family list through organizations such as the Red Cross and to charge the South Korean government to include Korean-Americans in the inter-Korean family reunion.

하원은 이보다 하루 전인 19일 본회의에서 민주당 그레이스 멩 의원이 주도한 미-북 이산가족 상봉 법안을 만장일치로 의결해 상원으로 회부했습니다.
The House of Representatives unanimously voted on a U.S.-North Korean family reunion bill led by Democratic Congressman Grace Meng and referred it to the Senate a day earlier, at a plenary session on the 19th.
