조 바이든 미국 대통령은 시진핑 중국 국가주석과의 정상회담에서 북한과 러시아의 밀착 행보에 대해 우려를 전달했다고 백악관 국가안보회의(NSC) 관리가 밝혔습니다.
U.S. President Joe Biden conveyed concerns about North Korea's close ties with Russia at a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, a White House National Security Council official said.

세라 베란 백악관 NSC 중국∙타이완 담당 선임국장은 16일 아시아-태평양 언론을 상대로 한 디지털 브리핑에서 한반도 문제와 관련 중국의 협조를 요청했느냐는 질문에 이같이 답했습니다.
Sarah Veran, senior director of the White House NSC's China and Taiwan Affairs Bureau, responded to a digital briefing to Asia-Pacific media on the 16th when asked if she had asked for China's cooperation in the Korean Peninsula issue.

베란 선임국장은 “우리는 중국과 여러 다른 대화에서 북한과 러시아 관계의 강화에 대한 우려에 초점을 맞췄다”고 말했습니다.
"We focused on concerns about the strengthening of North Korea-Russia relations in a number of other conversations with China," Beran said.

아울러 이같은 관계 강화가 한반도 비핵화, 러시아의 유엔 안보리 결의 준수 의무에 어떠한 의미인지에 대해 논의했으며, 북한의 추가 핵 실험 가능성 등에 대해서도 대화를 나눴다고 덧붙였습니다.
He also discussed what such strengthening would mean for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and Russia's obligation to comply with U.N. Security Council resolutions, and discussed the possibility of further nuclear tests by North Korea.

베란 선임국장은 정상회담간 이같은 우려가 중국 측에 전달됐으며, 이 점들이 역내 안보에 어떠한 영향을 미칠 것인지에 대해 심각하게 생각해 볼 것을 중국 측에 촉구했다고 설명했습니다.
During the summit, Beran explained that the concerns were conveyed to the Chinese side, and he urged them to think seriously about how they would affect security in the region.

앞서 김정은 북한 국무위원장과 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령은 지난 9월 러시아 극동 보스토치니 우주기지에서 정상회담을 갖고 군사 협력 강화 등을 논의했었습니다.
Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a summit in September at the Vostochny Space Station in Russia's Far East to discuss strengthening military cooperation.

이와 관련해 미 국무부는 15일 북한과 러시아 간 무기 거래에 대한 강력한 대응 의지를 거듭 강조하면서, 동맹과 파트너들과 함께 다양한 조치를 취하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
In this regard, the U.S. State Department reiterated its strong commitment to responding to the arms trade between North Korea and Russia on the 15th, saying that it is taking various measures with allies and partners.
