한중 국방장관, 북 핵 문제 등 논의…한국 측 “중국이 북한 대화 나오도록 건설적 역할 해야” > 정치

캄보디아에서 열린 제9차 아세안 확대 국방장관회의에 참석한 한국 이종섭 장관이 어제(23일) 웨이펑허 중국 국방부장과 만나 한반도와 지역안보 정세에 대해 논의했다고 한국 국방부가 밝혔습니다.
South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup met with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe yesterday (23rd) to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula and regional security, the South Korean Defense Ministry said.

지난 6월 싱가포르에서 열린 아시아안보회의(샹그릴라 대화)에서의 양자 회담 이후 5개월 만에 이뤄진 이번 회담에서 이 장관은 “북한의 핵과 미사일 능력 고도화가 미한 동맹의 군사연습과 미국의 위협에 대한 대응이라는 주장은 타당하지 않고 책임전가에 불과하다”고 지적했습니다.
In the talks, which took place five months after a bilateral meeting at the Asian Security Conference in Singapore in June, Lee said, "North Korea's claim that its nuclear and missile capabilities are a response to U.S. military exercises and threats from the U.S. is not valid and only a transfer of responsibility."

그러면서, 북한이 핵과 미사일 능력 고도화로 결코 얻을 것이 없음을 깨닫고 대화의 장으로 나오도록 중국 측이 건설적인 역할을 해 달라고 당부했습니다.
At the same time, he realized that North Korea would never gain from upgrading its nuclear and missile capabilities, and asked China to play a constructive role in bringing it to the dialogue table.

웨이 부장은 이에 대해 중국은 한반도의 안정을 위해 지속해서 적극적이고 건설적인 역할을 해왔다면서 당사국 간 대화를 통한 문제 해결을 위해 노력해야 한다는 입장을 밝혔습니다.
In response, Wei said that China has continued to play an active and constructive role in stabilizing the Korean Peninsula and that it should strive to solve the problem through dialogue between the parties.
