미국이 지난 8월 아프가니스탄 카불에서 미군의 드론 공격으로사망한 민간인 유족들에게 보상금을 지급하기로 했습니다.
The United States has decided to pay compensation to the bereaved families of civilians who died in a U.S. drone attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, in August.

미국 국방부는 15일 성명을 통해 "무인기 공격으로 사망한 10명의 유족들에게 보상금을 지급하기로 했다"고 밝혔습니다.
The U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement on the 15th, "We have decided to pay compensation to the bereaved families of 10 people who died in the unmanned aerial vehicle attack."

존 커비 국방부 대변인은 성명에서 “국방부는 또한 국무부와 함께 생존 가족들의 미국 이주를 돕고 있다”라고 밝혔습니다.
Defense spokesman John Kirby said in a statement, "The Ministry of National Defense is also helping surviving families migrate to the United States with the State Department."

앞서 미 국방부는 지난 8월 말, 카불 국제공항 근처에서 이슬람 수니파 무장 단체 IS-호라산(IS -K) 고위급 인사 2명을 제거하는 과정에서 어린이 7명을 포함해 민간인 10명이 비극적으로 숨졌다고 시인한 바 있습니다.
Earlier in late August, the U.S. Department of Defense admitted that 10 civilians, including seven children, were tragically killed in the process of removing two high-ranking Islamic Sunnisan armed group IS-Horasan (IS-K) personnel near Kabul International Airport.

당시 케네스 매켄지 중부사령관은 잘못된 정보로 비극적 실수를 저질렀으며 진심으로 사과한다며 숨진 이들에 애도를 표했습니다.
Central Commander Kenneth Mackenzie expressed his condolences to those who died at the time, saying he made a tragic mistake with misinformation and sincerely apologized.

로이드 오스틴 국방부 장관도 성명을 통해, 사과를 표명하고 철저한 조사와 재발 방지를 위해 노력하겠다고 약속했습니다.
Defense Minister Lloyd Austin also expressed his apology in a statement and promised to thoroughly investigate and prevent recurrence.

미군이 당시 공습 표적을 삼은 차량의 운전자는 미국이 운용하는 구호단체에서 오랫동안 일해온 현지인 제마리 아흐마디로 알려졌습니다.
The driver of a vehicle targeted by the U.S. military at the time was known as Jemari Ahmad, a local who had been working for a U.S.-run relief organization for a long time.

미국은 유족의 요구에 따라 보상급 지급과 미국을 포함한 제3국 이주 지원 등을 검토해왔습니다.
