Germany's Defense Ministry says its first-ever German air force fighter jets will also stop by South Korea next month. He said his main goal is to exchange experiences with Korean partners and increase interoperability. Reporter Park Seung-hyuk reports.

Germany's Ministry of National Defense confirmed to VOA on the 18th that German Air Force fighter jets dispatched to Asia for the first time since its foundation will also stop by Korea for a short visit next month to participate in exchange activities with Korean partners.

German Defense Ministry spokesman Mitch Müller said the main purpose and activities of visiting Korea are to exchange experiences and improve interoperability.

This is the first time a German Air Force aircraft has visited Korea in person.

The German Air Force has been conducting Rapid Pacific training since the 15th to quickly deploy fighter jets in the event of a sudden change in Asia.

Accordingly, Germany dispatched 13 military aircraft, including six Eurofighters, to Asia for the first time since its re-establishment in 1956.

Müller says Germany is conducting a Rapid Pacific exercise for partners who share common values in the region and participating in a biennial Peach Black exercise in Australia.

Air Force from 17 countries including the U.S., South Korea, and Japan will participate in the Peach Black training, which will be held from the 19th in northern Australia.

In particular, the Australian Ministry of Defence says it is the first time for South Korea, Japan and Germany to participate.

German military aircraft's visit to Korea has been announced since the 8th of next month after the end of the Peach Black training.

In the case of the German Navy, a frigate was deployed to East China Sea last year to participate in North Korea's illegal maritime transshipment surveillance activities.

Meanwhile, the German Air Force's surprise dispatch to the Indo-Pacific is drawing more attention after NATO defined China as a "potential challenge" in June amid China's recent threats and hegemony over Taiwan in the region.

German Air Force Chief of Staff Ingo Gerhardt said in an interview with local media that he had "no intention of delivering a threat message to China" regarding the dispatch.
