미 법원 “돈세탁 문철명 법원 출석 다음달로 연기…7번째 미뤄져” > 정치

미국으로 신병이 인도된 첫 북한 국적자 문철명의 법원 출석이 다음달로 연기됐습니다.
Moon Chul-myung, the first North Korean national to be extradited to the United States, has been postponed to next month.

사건을 담당한 미 워싱턴 DC 연방법원의 루돌프 콘트레라스 판사는 13일 명령문을 통해 당초 16일로 예정된 문철명의 법원 심리를 다음달 7일 오전 10시로 변경한다고 밝혔습니다.
Judge Rudolf Contreras of the U.S. Federal Court in Washington, DC, who was in charge of the case, said in an order on the 13th that the court hearing of Moon Cheol-myung, originally scheduled for the 16th, will be changed to 10 a.m. on the 7th of next month.

앞서 검찰은 13일 법원에 제출한 문건에서 문철명의 국선 변호인과 심리일 변경 문제를 상의했다며, 재판부에 새로운 법원 출석일을 결정해 달라고 요구한 바 있습니다.
In a document submitted to the court on the 13th, the prosecution asked the court to decide on a new court attendance date, saying it had discussed changing the hearing date with Moon Chul-myung's public defender.

검찰은 변호인과 함께 이번 사건의 증거물 검토를 완료하고 효과적으로 재판을 준비하기 위해 추가 시간이 필요하다는 데 의견을 같이 한 점을 요청 사유로 제시했습니다.
The prosecution, along with the lawyer, agreed that additional time was needed to complete the examination of the evidence in this case and prepare for the trial effectively.

말레이시아에서 무역 업무를 했던 문철명은 지난 2019년 5월 돈세탁 등 6개 혐의로 미국 법원에 기소돼 지난해 3월 미국으로 신병이 인도된 첫 북한 국적자입니다.
Moon Chul-myung, who worked in Malaysia for trade, was indicted in a U.S. court in May 2019 on six charges including money laundering and is the first North Korean national to be extradited to the U.S. in March last year.

앞서 문철명은 자신에게 적용된 혐의에 대해 무죄를 주장하면서, 재판을 이어가겠다는 의사를 밝힌 바 있습니다.
Moon earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges applied to him and expressed his intention to continue the trial.

재판부가 이번에도 사전심리일 연기를 결정하면서 문철명의 법원 출석은 지난해 7월 이후 일곱 번째로 미뤄지게 됐습니다.
Moon Chul-myung's appearance at the court has been delayed for the seventh time since July last year as the court decided to postpone the preliminary hearing date again.
