유니세프 “11월말 열차 통해 북한에 각종 백신 제공”…북한 어린이·임산부 110만명 접종 가능 > 경제

The United Nations says various vaccines, including a mixed vaccine that can be inoculated to 1.1 million North Korean children and pregnant women, arrived in North Korea by train at the end of November. It is the first time that aid supplies have entered North Korea by train since February, and related supplies are currently in the process of quarantine and disinfection. 북한 어린이와 임산부 110만 명에게 접종할 수 있는 혼합 백신 등 각종 백신이 열차를 통해 11월 말 북한에 도착했다고 유엔이 밝혔습니다. 북한에 열차로 지원 물자가 들어간 것은 지난 2월 이후 처음으로, 관련 물자는 현재 검역과 소독 과정 중에 있습니다. 안소영 기자입니다.

Amid North Korea's long-term border blockade to prevent the novel coronavirus infection disease, additional health support items from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have recently arrived in North Korea.
신종 코로나를 막기 위한 북한의 국경 봉쇄가 장기간 이어지고 있는 가운데 최근 유엔아동기금(UNICEF·유니세프)의 추가 보건 지원 물품이 북한에 도착한 것으로 확인됐습니다.

[UNICEF spokesperson for East Asia and the Pacific] "2022년 11월 말 철도를 통해 조선민주주의인민공화국에 BCG 백신(결핵용) 3만2860병, 홍역/풍진 백신 6만9050병, 파상풍 백신 4만330병, IPV 폴리오 백신 1만7400병, 펜타 백신 54만2100병이 전달되었습니다. 검역이 해제되고 배포되면 이 최신 백신은 54만 명에서 69만 명 사이의 어린이와 43만 명에 달하는 임산부에게 각 백신의 최소 1회 투여량을 제공할 수 있습니다."
[유니세프 동아시아태평양 지역 대변인] “32,860 vials of BCG vaccine (for tuberculosis), 69,050 vials of measles/rubella vaccine, 43,330 vials of tetanus vaccine, 17,400 vials of IPV polio vaccine, and 542,100 vials of Penta vaccine were delivered by rail to DPR Korea in late-November 2022. Once cleared from quarantine and distributed, this latest shipment of vaccines could provide at least one dose of each vaccine for between 540,000 and 690,000 children and for as many as 430,000 pregnant women.”

In response to VOA's written question on the status of aid to North Korea on the 30th, UNICEF's East Asia-Pacific spokesman said, "At the end of November 2022, 32,860 BCG vaccines, 69,50 measles/rubella vaccines, 43,330 tetanus vaccines, 17,400 IPV polio vaccines, and 542,100 mixed vaccines were delivered to North Korea."

He explained that the vaccine sent this time is enough to provide at least once to 540,000 children to 690,000 and up to 430,000 pregnant women if distributed after quarantine is completed.
그러면서 이번에 보낸 백신은 검역을 마친 후 분배되면 어린이 54만 명에서 69만 명, 임산부 최대 43만 명에게 적어도 한 번씩 접종을 제공할 수 있는 분량이라고 설명했습니다.

A UNICEF spokesman also said, "We delivered therapeutic food to North Korea in November 2022 (enough for 13,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition)."
유니세프 대변인은 또한 “2022년 11월 (심각한 영양실조에 시달리는 어린이 1만3천여 명에게 충분한) 치료용 식품을 북한에 전달했다”고 밝혔습니다.

Water and sanitation supplies for more than 74,000 people also arrived in DPR Korea in November 2022. Both are undergoing quarantine and disinfection processes.”

"In November 2022, drinking water and hygiene products for 74,000 people also arrived in North Korea," he said. "All of them are under quarantine and disinfection procedures," but did not explain when and how related materials were brought into North Korea.
이어 “2022년 11월에 7만 4천여 명을 위한 식수와 위생용품도 북한에 도착했다”며 “모두 검역과 소독 절차를 밟고 있다”고 설명했지만, 관련 물자를 언제, 어떤 방식으로 북한에 반입했는지는 설명하지 않았습니다.

Meanwhile, a UNICEF spokesman said it took seven months for the vaccine, which was brought into North Korea by train for the first time since the COVID-19 crisis in February, to be released from quarantine.
한편 유니세프 대변인은 지난 2월 코로나 사태 이후 처음으로 열차를 통해 북한에 반입됐던 백신이 격리에서 해제되는데 7개월이 소요됐다고 밝혔습니다.

[UNICEF spokesperson for East Asia and the Pacific] 2022년 2월 조선민주주의인민공화국으로 출하된 펜타백신 29만 6천 도스 이상이 2022년 9월 방역과 소독에서 해제돼 13개 도에서 3일간 1회 접종 어린이 29만 6천 310명이 즉시 접종을 받았습니다.
[유니세프 동아시아태평양 지역 대변인] “More than 296,000 doses of Penta vaccine shipped to DPR Korea in February 2022 were released from quarantine and disinfection in September 2022, and an immediate vaccination campaign was undertaken in 13 provinces, with 296,310 children being vaccinated with one dose, over a 3-day period.”

A UNICEF spokesman explained, "The 296,000 mixed vaccines that arrived in North Korea in February 2022 were released from quarantine and disinfection procedures in September 2022, and were inoculated once by 296,310 children in 13 provinces for three days."
유니세프 대변인은 “2022년 2월 북한에 도착한 혼합 백신 29만 6천여 회분이 2022년 9월 격리와 소독 절차에서 해제됐고, 13개 도에서 사흘간 어린이 29만6천310명에게 1회씩 접종됐다”고 설명했습니다.

It is the first time in nine months that support supplies have been brought into North Korea by train since February.
북한에 열차를 통해 지원 물자가 반입된 것은 지난 2월 이후 9개월 만에 처음입니다.

UNICEF previously said in March that "296,000 doses of mixed vaccines were transported by train to North Korea in the last week of February."
유니세프는 앞서 지난 3월 “2월 마지막 주에 혼합백신 29만 6천 회분이 북한으로 열차를 통해 운송됐다”고 밝힌 바 있습니다.

It was the first U.N. agency to bring in support materials through land since North Korea blocked the border due to COVID-19 quarantine since January 2020.
북한이 2020년 1월부터 신종 코로나 방역을 이유로 국경을 봉쇄한 이후 육로를 통한 유엔 기구의 첫 지원 물자 반입이었습니다.

Due to the North Korean authorities' inspection process for external materials, which takes months, it is expected that it will take a considerable amount of time for various vaccines to be distributed.
이처럼 수개월씩 걸리는 외부 물자에 대한 북한 당국의 검열 절차 때문에 이번에 북한에 도착한 각종 백신이 배분되는데도 적잖은 시간이 걸릴 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.
